สมเด็จพระราชมุนีสามีรามคุณูปมาจารย์ ซึ่งเราอาจรู้จักันอีกหลายๆชื่อ เช่น สมเด็จเจ้าพะโคะ,หลวงปู่ทวดเหยียบน้ำทะเลจืด หลวงปู่ทวดวัดช้างให้ หรือท่านองค์ดำหรือท่านลังกา เป็นต้น
เป็นพระเถระที่คนไทยรู้จักกันดี ท่านเป็นเกจิรูปในสมัยอยุธยาซึ่งมีผู้คนศรัทธาเลื่อมใสจำนวนมากเชื่อกันว่าใครที่มีพระเครื่องหลวงปู่ทวดติดตัวจะเกินทางแคล้วคลาดปลอดภัย
ตามประวัติหลวงปู่ทวดมีนามเดิมว่า ปู เป็นบุตรของนายหู นางจันทร์ ซึ่งเป็นทาสในเรือนเบี้ยของเศรษฐีปาน ตำบลดีหลวง อำเภอสทิงพระ จังหวัดสงขลา ซึ่งตอนนั้นอยู่ในสมัยการปกครองของสมเด็จพระมหาธรรมราชาธิราช
ส่วนเรื่องวันเดือนปีเกิดของท่านมีมีหลักฐานไม่แน่ชัดซึ่งมีการสันนิษบานไว้หลายกระแส ดังนี้
